Bob Marshalla, founder and principal of Marshalla Asset Management has a deep and varied background in economics and investment management. Bob holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Engineering Economic Systems, as well as a Masters degree in Economics from Stanford and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois. Bob founded Marshalla Asset Management in 2002 to pursue the principles discussed elsewhere on this website (see "Principles"). Prior to this, Bob was a Founding Partner and the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Sutter Starmont Asset Management, a fee only investment advisory company with offices in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Kansas City. As CIO, Bob chaired the Investment Committee, managed investment research and was generally responsible for the firm's investment strategy. Duties included development of asset allocation targets, model portfolios, approved investment lists, analytical methods for individual stock research, financial planning models and investment management processes. From 1999 through 2001, Bob was a Managing Director of Starmont Asset Management, also a fee-only investment advisory firm. In an earlier role as CFO for Decision Focus Incorporated, Bob's duties included managing the employees' Pension, Profit Sharing, ESOP, stock options and 401k plans, as well as being responsible for the company's financial reporting and annual stock valuation. Prior to his current role in helping individuals with their investment strategies, Bob spent many years helping companies and public entities deal with risk and uncertainty in their investment decisions. Before becoming a financial advisor, Bob spent over twenty years as a management consultant and computer model developer, applying quantitative management science to help large corporations and public entities make better decisions about pricing, investments and the utilization of large scale fixed assets. Over this period Bob filled numerous executive roles in Silicon Valley-based management consulting and software development companies, including Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Director, Vice President for Market Research and Industry Strategy and Director of the Oil and Gas Business Practice, among others. Amy Mueller is responsible for customer service and internal operations at Marshalla Asset Management. Customer oriented and highly competent in information technology, Amy executes trades, interfaces with the custodians, produces client reports, handles client requests, and serves as the MAM webmaster. By competently running our internal operations, Amy frees up partner time to spend on the content of client business. Prior to this role, Amy spent 21 years at Hewlett-Packard where she managed various company-wide projects in Information Technology and Networking/Communications. She holds a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. |
